I grew up in the beautiful Maracas Valley, Trinidad, where I spent many carefree days bathing in the river, playing cricket and listening to my grandmother tell stories about jumbies, douens and other creatures found in West Indian folklore. At age ten my mother bought me the book, The Count of Monte Cristo, and that was the beginning of my love of literature, especially the classics. I enjoyed the best of both worlds when I attended the University of the West Indies and achieved both a Bachelor and Master's degree in Literatures in English. In March 2021, I finally realised my lifelong dream of becoming an author with my first publication, The Ugly Coat.
